| Primary Objectives Of The Event | Swaroop was an inquiry into the idea of the self beyond socially constructed roles and expectations. Much of our understanding of identity is shaped by language, norms, and inherited frameworks that gradually define how we perceive ourselves and others. The session sought to pause within this process and reflect on what might remain when these layers are momentarily set aside. Through mud sculpting, discussion, and writing, participants were invited to engage with the idea of a self that is felt rather than prescribed. The tactile act of shaping mud functioned as a grounding exercise, encouraging participants to think about form, instinct, and expression without the immediate pressure of articulation. The intention behind Swaroop was not to arrive at fixed definitions, but to open a space for reflection, where participants could explore how identity is shaped, negotiated, and possibly reimagined. At its core, the session focused on engaging with the human self as fluid, layered, and continually in the process of becoming. |
| Official Statement From The Organizers | Swaroop unfolded as a reflective and process-oriented space centered on the idea of the self beyond imposed roles and definitions. Through mud sculpting, discussion, and writing, participants engaged with identity as something felt, shaped, and continuously negotiated, rather than fixed. The tactile grounding activity allowed participants to approach reflection in a non-linear way—beginning with form and intuition, and gradually moving toward articulation. What emerged in the room was a range of responses: some abstract, some deeply personal, and others observational. The discussion that followed extended these reflections, allowing participants to collectively sit with questions around conditioning, perception, and the idea of the human self. As the founder and organizer, my intention was to create a space that prioritizes inquiry over conclusion. The session was not directed toward defining the self, but toward engaging with its fluidity, how it is shaped by external structures, and how it can be momentarily reimagined. Swaroop ultimately became a shared exploration of identity as a process, formed, questioned, and expressed through both making and writing, while allowing participants to arrive at their own interpretations. |
