| Primary Objectives Of The Event | What: The second session, In Black, White, Red, invited participants to engage with three high-contrast colors—Black, White, and Red—as prompts for writing and discussion. Building on the Chromatic Subtext theme, the session focused on how strongly familiar colors carry immediate assumptions and layered associations. Participants responded through both spontaneous and pre-written pieces, followed by a shared reading and conversation. The space emphasized interpretation, encouraging multiple perspectives to emerge from the same visual starting point. Why: While the first session explored softer and more open-ended responses, In Black, White, Red introduced sharper contrasts to examine instinctive reactions more closely. These colors often feel definitive, yet they hold varied meanings shaped by personal experience, cultural context, and emotional memory. The session aimed to question what appears obvious and observe how quickly interpretation forms. Through writing and dialogue, the intention was to uncover the subtext within these contrasts—highlighting how a limited palette can still generate diverse and nuanced expressions |
| Official Statement From The Organizers | In Black, White, Red was conducted as the second session under the theme Chromatic Subtext, continuing the exploration of how colors carry layered meanings beyond their surface. While the first session focused on softer tones, this session introduced Black, White, and Red—colors often perceived as definitive and contrasting. The intention was to observe how quickly assumptions form around familiar palettes, and how these assumptions differ across individuals. Participants engaged with the colors through writing, responding either spontaneously or with pre-written pieces, followed by a shared discussion. The session emphasized interpretation over definition, allowing diverse perspectives to emerge from the same set of colors. Through this process, In Black, White, Red aimed to examine the subtext within contrast—how clarity can still hold ambiguity, and how limited colors can generate varied and layered expressions. |
