Primary Objectives Of The Event

WHAT: A collaborative writing session where participants bring a piece inspired by a color of their choice. Midway through, pages are exchanged, each writer then continues someone else's piece, staying rooted in the same color but bringing their own voice to it. The result is a text shaped by two writers, one color.

WHY: The event explores what happens to meaning when it travels. How tone shifts, how associations expand, how a single color holds entirely different weight depending on who is perceiving it. The goal isn't a polished piece — it's the evolution of one. It's a study in collaborative authorship and the layering of perspectives, moving writing from something personal to something shared.

Official Statement From The Organizers

Borrowed Pigments began as a simple question: what happens to a piece of writing when it leaves its first voice?

At Adhyayan, we've always been interested in how meaning moves, between people, between perspectives, between the personal and the shared. This session was designed around that curiosity. Participants were invited to bring a color, and a piece of writing it had inspired. Midway through, pages were exchanged. Each writer continued someone else's work, staying anchored to the same color but bringing their own associations, tone, and interpretation to it.

The shift is subtle, but intentional. What begins as individual perception gradually becomes collaborative, layered with more than one voice, shaped in the space between two writers.

Borrowed Pigments is not about perfecting a piece. It is about letting it evolve, and noticing what changes when another hand takes it forward.
