Primary Objectives Of The Event

The primary objective of Love Aaj Kal - Through The Eyes Of Imtiaz Ali was to celebrate the only filmmaker of our generation who has not let go of love in his stories, characters, and dialogues and the impact his stories have left on the audiences of different generations.

Imtiaz Ali is not the flavour of the season but it's the season of Imtiaz Ali. The response to Mai Wapas Aaunga has been amazing, and it reminded us of something we’ve all felt at some point: the way Imtiaz Ali understands people. The way he notices longing, confusion, love, distance, timing… and quietly leaves a part of it with us.

Official Statement From The Organizers

The session was attended by 15 members. It started with a fun quiz on all the trivia we discovered and researched about Imtiaz Ali. The session went ahead, going deep dive into a particular set of themes that Imtiaz Ali’s films always delve into. There were some pivotal scenes of his filmography screened and discussed.

The session later turned into an intimate round-table discussion. The guests spoke about their favourite films, the characters that stayed with them and all the memorable epic dialogues that they keep going back to.

When we talk about the most distinctive filmmaker of our time, the one who is not letting go of love, the conversation can’t just be about stories, characters, and songs. It’s Imtiaz Ali, and he required us to wander through different philosophies of love, oneness, and self-discovery before reaching him.

Therefore after discussing his filmography, the different themes and stages of love in his stories we also made a stop at neurodivergent and neurotypical. Someone also dared to call out Ali as the Indian representative of Twin Flame propaganda. We also discussed whether Ved was bipolar and whether Tara had an anxious attachment with our psychologist friend and fan of Imtiaz. In the end, the session was an emotional roller coaster just like Ali’s films.

It ended by throwing light on some of the very important collaborations Ali has made highlighting his work with Irshad Kamil, A.R. Rahman, and Irshad Kamil.
