Primary Objectives Of The Event

The primary objective of the event was to create a platform for meaningful dialogue around grassroots journalism, gender, representation, and the challenges faced by women journalists from marginalised communities. Through a conversation with Khabar Lahariya journalists about their book Badi Aayi Patrakar, the event aimed to highlight stories often overlooked by mainstream media, encourage critical thinking about whose voices are heard, and help attendees understand the importance of inclusive and people-centred journalism.

The event also reflected Nukkad’s vision of creating spaces for conversations, learning, and community engagement that bring people closer to perspectives and experiences beyond their own.

Official Statement From The Organizers

At Nukkad, we believe that meaningful conversations can bring us closer to realities beyond our own. Hosting the Khabar Lahariya team for a discussion around Badi Aayi Patrakar was an opportunity to listen to women journalists who have spent years bringing overlooked stories and marginalised voices into public discourse.

The conversation reminded us that journalism is not just about what makes the headlines, but also about whose stories are heard and whose struggles remain unseen. We hope the evening encourages people to question their perspectives, recognise their privileges, and become more attentive to the experiences of others.

Creating spaces for such conversations is central to what Nukkad stands for. We are grateful to the Khabar Lahariya team for sharing their experiences and allowing us to learn from their work.
